The Proposal: Originally born and raised in Walker, Louisiana, I relocated to Orlando, FL in January of 2012. After getting adjusted to the area, I started visiting churches and landed at The Experience Christian Center where Jasmine was a member. Noticing that she was a member of National Urban League Young Professionals, I started a conversation after service one Sunday. That initial conversation started our friendship. With us both being highly involved in work, travel, and myself in ministry we would always find time every month or so to “catch-up” for dinner or sushi. Our friendship started transitioning in October of 2014 when Jasmine joined my Marketing Team at The Experience Christian Center. I began to “observe” and keep in contact with Jasmine more often. As our communications increased it wasn’t until December 20, 2014 when I informed Jasmine that I was interested in taking our friendship to the next level. December 20th was a long day for both of us! It started at 6am preparing for our churches annual Seasons Blessings Community Give-Away! After the give-away we talked for a while on the phone, then both got some rest because we had events later that night, she attended an annual Christmas party with her girlfriends, and I attended a friends birthday dinner. We texted the entire night updating each other on how the events were going. After my event ended, I met Jasmine at her party and asked her to step outside. I was leaning on the hood of my car, and as she approached I gave her a hug and told her I was interested in progressing our friendship into a dating relationship. She smiled and said “Oh really?!” We laughed and I left her with “the ball is in your court!” Our communication again increased after that night, and led to our 1st “official” date on January 1, 2015. We dated all of 2015 getting to know each other on a different level, and that led to the proposal on our 1-year anniversary, January 1, 2016. After the annual watch night service at church we went to breakfast at The Hyatt Hotel, we enjoyed breakfast and as we were, headed to the car, I dropped on one knee and said, “A year ago today you said Yes to our 1st date, and Today on our 1 year anniversary, I ask would you do me the honor and be my wife?!” She cried and here we are now!

How We Met: Wow! I met Dominic sometime around the summer of 2012 while attending the Experience Christian Center. The very first thing he said to me one day after church was “you’re in the Urban League group right?” Instantly we became bff’s lol, he knew I had a passion for the organization and used it as a tool to get to know me. We became great friends. We would would chat after church all the time for years to come. I was dating here and there throughout the years of our friendship and he was in an exclusive relationship. I had no interest in him nor he in I. Our love for food and career talk brought us together for a quarterly sushi meeting where we would discuss work, our relationship/dating ups and downs and our careers. Exchange advice and really encourage each other, purely platonic. I was there for his ministerial installation he was there when I became president of the Central Florida Urban League Young Professionals.Summer 2014 he retreated to himself for about 6 months. During that time my walk with Christ, participation in church, attendance and work increased tremendously. I found myself working with the Marketing team(he was the Marketing Director) a lot. That closeness started to make a few rumbles among our congregation and friends who all suggested that we were unattached and should consider dating. I still was unsure of that and so was he until he received instruction from God to move forward in pursing me. December 23, 2014 after I attended my annual Christmas party with my girlfriends and his friend’s birthday party he contacted me to meet him. We met and he expressed his interest in me and in his words ended the conversation by saying “the ball is in your court.” I smirked and rejoined my friends for the evening. After a week of thinking and completely aware I wanted more than just an occasional date I knew God placed him in my life years prior to prepare me for this moment. The moment I knew I would be saying yes to the man God made for me and the man I can’t live without! We went on out first date new years eve 2015 and it’s been foodie funfest ever since!!!!!
